*This stone is in Longitude 113° 52' 0" E. Fixed by Lieut.

"and Commander F.M.Loake R.N. and the officers of H.M.S.

* "Bramble*. From a point at High water mark due South

*of this stone the boundary follows the shore of Lantao to

"the Westward. To the Southward it runs due South to the

*parallel of 22° 9' 0" N”.

From this it is evident (a) that

the inscription on both stones takes no account of Mr.

Chamberlain's dictum that a strip of water three miles in

width around all islands leased by the Convention is in-

cluded in the lease: (b) that, if the inscription on the

stones is held to be correct, Tai O Police Station and Po

Chu Tan are not included in British Territory; (c) that the

description on the Southern stone does not agree with the

delineation of the South Western boundary as shown on the

map attached to the Convention; and (d) that the description

on the Northern stone does not agree with the delineation

of the North-Western boundary as shown on the map attached
